No. When applying for an employment permit, you have to be out of Zambia and wait for the response from immigration.

Yes. You can be in Zambia when extending your employment permit.

You can apply for a residence permit when you have been on an employment permit for a continuous period of 10 years or an investors permit for a period exceeding 3 years.

If you have been in Zambia on a continuous period of 10 years on an employment permit, then you can apply for a residence permit, but if you had temporary permit or temporary employment permits and an employment permit in those 10 years, then you do not qualify.
